So, I know its likely been posted on here before but could someone point me to the direction of the plus/minuses of a disk versus disk cover?
Thanks.

+'s
lenticular shape
way cheaper
You can true it
You can use a powertap with it
stiffer
-'s
Takes ~10 minutes to install/uninstall
doesn’t make whoosh whoosh noise
lacks bling factor/considered not as cool by many
.
Totally ignorant question, but how do you air up a tire on a wheel with a disc cover? Is there an easy way to access the valve stem?
The only minus that I know of is that they do not sound like a disk, but that’s it. I had a Renn 575 for two season and switch over to an AM 420 with a powertap SL hub and I have never looked back.
Performance has been the same as far as I can tell and I now get power data!
Do it!!
Dan…
there is a valve cut out if you get a custom cut one from wheelbuilder.

The only performance minuses that I have heard are:
Some of the newest disks (zipp sub 9, H3, etc) have more sophisticated shpes, which may be slightly more aero
The rim to cover interface can be a problem, (gaps, distinct ridge) unless care is taken during installation.

I would add comfort to the list of advantages. Generally, a spoked wheel feels better to ride than a disk. If the course is smooth, then this doesn’t really matter.
A disadvantage is weight. High end disks usually weigh less than wheel+ cover. Of course weight isn’t that much of a penalty except on steepest of hills.
