Discs, discs, discs

Seeking aero knowledge guys, am reviewing options regardings discs and although I understand benefits of a disc versus other wheel types what are peoples thoughts on:

New Zipp disc v.s. Hed 3D disc vs. Lightweight Disc v.s. Zipp 808 (if they release it this year???) or H3 trispoke or Xentis 4 spoke??

From an aerodynamics factor, all dics are essentially the same including the CH Aero cover (beat you to it cerveloguy!). The major differences will be in weight and pimp factor.

Get the Renn. It's beautifully made, straight and true with a great hub. It's a little heavier than the Zipp at less than half the price. Lighter than the Hed at two thirds the price. Compared to Zipp you'll save enough to pay for a front race wheel.

I wonder which disc that has the best lateral stiffnes? Are disc stiffer than 32-36spoked wheels?

Dave — that currently finds his hed 3 spoke not stiff enough…

TriDave79,

You may want to take a look at your tires. Whees don’t get much stiffer than Hed 3s.

Nothing is faster than a disc. I would only say to NOT get a disc if you are going to have a do-it-all set of wheels and Kona is REGULARLY on your calendar every October. It has been proven again and again. A monocote disc is even faster than a non-disc.

Get a Renn 5ive 7even 5ive- there’s nothing that will best it in terms of bang per buck.

and don’t forget the cool whumping noise (Renn owner who bought a Hed front on ebay with the money he saved -sorry Frank, I couldn’t wait)
.

Darn!

But let me say it once again - a disc is a disc is a disc.
