ok, so we all know the new hour record (im pretty sure it was the hour record) was beaten with a rediculously heavy disc wheel. The idea being that its hard to get up to speed, but easier to keep at speed. So, my question is, on time trials that may only see 100-200 ft of cumulative elevation, are the heavier wheels better? Im trying to decide between the Renn 575/Kaiser/Madiera. What have people’s expereinces been with these wheels? Also, the Madiera is apparently some carbon weave, but the kaiser is Texalium. What the hell is that?
Texalium: Super strong composite weaved from the shaved leg hair of native Texan, Lance Armstrong.
I have a 575 and love it. I have not weighed it but it feels lighter than the quoted weight. The time trials I do are on a rolling hill course.
