I just replaced my old Cat Eye computer with a new one. The sensor is now to far away from the magnet when using my disk. The old sensor could be manipulated to reach the magnet when switching from a spoked wheel to my Renn. Any suggestions? Also, any suggestions on how to remove sticker glue residue from the Renn without damaging the wheel?
The old one I could rotate, but not the new one. Don’t think it would work on the front without making a mess. The computer has a long wire with a sensor on the crank for cadence, and the second at the end for the back wheel.
Try a different, stronger magnet. I never have to reposition my pickup when I switch to my disc. I did have to play with different magnets to get all my wheels to work on all my bikes. Now it doesn’t matter if I’m using my training wheels, racing wheels, or aero wheels on either my TT bike or my road bike.
I used a plastic encased cadence magnet that I glued to a piece of electrical tape that I placed on the disc. Stronger magnets like neodymium won’t do any good on a flat disc with a cateye double wireless unless you get lucky with your chain stay geometry. The reason the cadence magnet works is it is thick enough to compensate for the angle of the sensor. I tried just the neodymiums glued to tape but it did not work as the sensor would make contact with the disc when it flexed. The angle of the chainstay is a major limitation as it determines the angle of the sensor. Perhaps later models will allow a swivel adjustment to accomodate flat discs.
