Disc vs. stock rear tire gains

OK, so there is lots of disc discussion on this board and I can’t search out my answer. $3000 wheels are not in my budget and would cost more than my bike so…wondering about a cover if I can get one that will work on speed concept.

I’m wondering if anyone can give me a real world MPH gain with a disk (low budget = no power meter= no watts). Say I ride around 22-23mph in a race (that’s a sprint for me not IM). If I use a disc can I expect .25 mph gain on a “normal course” or not that much? I’m running the stock race lite wheels / tires on my 7.5 SC.

Thank you.

100 to 200 grams of drag saved
100 grams of drag saved is 1 second per k of time saved

so 40 to 80 seconds per 40k

Wheelbuilder says it wont fit, others on here have tried as well with clearance issues.

I have a disc cover and wheel from my last bike, but havnt used it on my SC…I’ll put it on and see if I can get it to fit…FWIW it’ll be on a 65mm wheel which should be a better fit than a stock wheel.

You can get a used Renn disc for <$300 on eBay or ST classifieds. It’s a flat profile disc, so it fits even the narrowest frames.

65mm Enve carbon clincher with DT swiss hub and wheel cover fit no problem had close to 1cm clearance. I have the duotrap installed as well.
