Disc in the rain: bad for the wheel?

Sorry if this question seems stupid. I owed a friend a favor and loaned out my brand new set of HED wheels…that probably seems stupid too. Anyway, big storms headed our way. Is rain bad for disc wheels?

-Keith

Keith, I raised that question when I received my Renn disc and it was bare honetcore at the valve cut out and the overwhelming response (including that from Frank) is no, the core will not absorb any measurable amount of moisture. I still sealed the core with rubber sealant/epox though!

Better safe than…

keith,
i’ve raced my old hed disc in the rain a few different times. no problems with wear or durability. one race had about 3in of standing water on the course.

I’ve had my renn out twice in the rain. (and I do mean RAIN! The kind you can drown in.) It was fine. A few drops collected on the surface, but everything else stayed dry/empty. I can’t really say for a Hed (never ridden one.) I don’t imagine it should hurt.
