Theo de Rooij has not been fired, he has decided to step down.
I read it on Velonews. Although they report he resigned, between the lines it certainly reads as though he was fired, at the desire of the title sponsor Rabobank. If this is true it is surprising, since I thought Rabobank looked good by being willing to sacrifice the yellow jersey in order to preserve the team’s integrity. I wish they had rallied round the DS, not fired him. Very interesting development.
