You can tell I’m not a satellite guru, but here goes. I no longer have Direct TV, but still have my HD/DVR box. My parents have Dish, but don’t want to get another HD box b/c it won’t allow them to use the ‘vacation’ status when they travel during the summer. Sooooo, the Dish guy said ‘get a standard 211 HD box’ and you can just hook it up.
Nothing is EVER that simple. Could I potentially send them my Direct TV box and have it work with Dish or is that just not happenin’? My knee jerk reaction is no b/c I doubt the Direct could talk to the Dish cards that have to be inserted into each box.
Ideas?
