During the bike leg at Placid some lady took me out,and I just noticed I have a pretty big ding on the top tube of my steel bike. It looks like the tip of the base bar hit the tube when I went down. I just brought it to a Serrotta dealer, and he said that they will probably need to replace the top tube, and that it would cost at least several hundred dollars to replace and paint. Is it necessary to replace the top tube,or is it possible to have the dent filled with body filler, and then repainted? Pics are a little big. Thanks

You’re thinking about cosmetic repair when you should be worried about the structural integrity of the tube. Get a second (and a third if you want) opinion from someone who knows what they’re doing and if they’re all saying replace the tube then replace the tube. A collapsing toptube does not bear thinking about…
Forget the Serotta dealer and email these photos directly to Serotta and see what they say about.
Thanks for the advice gentlemen.
I’ll e-mail Serrotta these pics, and get there opinion.
