Didn't Wall Street Get the Memo?

markets opened today down again. But today we enshrine Obama?!?!? The guy that is going to walk on water and fix all the world’s problems. Perhaps at 12:01 the Big O will just wave his hand and magically make the dow hit 15,000.

You been listening to Sean for too long.

It took years to create the conditions that led to the market tanking, so why would you think one day will magically fix everything? Or one month? Or even one year?

because Obama is god and can fix everything. right?!?

Do you think Presidents are directly responsible for the performance of the stock markets?

For the last year -yes
2000-2007 - no
Going forward - no until it break 9500, then yes
1992-1999 yes
1999-2000 no
.

I think it will be more like 5 years… maybe more… and there isn’t anything that anyone can do about it.

I’ll bite… is it because the greedheads on wall street and in the board rooms of corporate America know that their butt-kissing buddies GWB / Cheney are out, and their days of rampant screwing over of the public is done for the next 4 years?

they are afraid of Obama and what he MIGHT do. plain and simple. market tanked after he won the election, too.

Wall Street is afraid of Obama?!?!? They were afraid of Elliot Spitzer too (so he thought), I guess that took care of itself.

Per Google…

On 14 inauguration days when the Dow was trading, dating back to 1929, the market finished down nine times. The losses though were mostly minor and the average for the Dow on all of those days was negative 0.38. When Ronald Reagan took office in 1981, the Dow had one of its worst inauguration day performances, finishing 2.09 percent lower. When Franklin Delano Roosevelt began his second term in 1937, the Dow rose 1.05 percent, its best inauguration performance.

Wait, the inaugaration is today?? The market makers must not of known Obama was going to be president for the last 2 months! It must have been a surprise when they woke up this morning. I can’t believe the press missed this, how could Wall Street not know. I just don’t get it.
