Did you receive a USAT ballot?

I thought ballots were supposed to arrive by June 14. I have not gotten one yet. What is the status (if you know)?

I haven’t received one either.

Blame the race directors.

I got mine yesterday (in New Jersey). Already mailed it back.

The Blue Ribbon Panel said the ballots had to mailed on or before June 14. Apparently, USAT got them out the door on either Friday, June 11 or Saturday, June 12, because some people received theirs on Monday. They were mailed first class, but some parts of the postal system work more slowly than others. Laura Sophiea in a northern suburb of Detroit called yesterday to say that she got hers . . . but we live in Ann Arbor on the western fringe of the Detroit area and they didn’t make it here. Maybe today. Maybe tomorrow.

If you don’t get yours by Thursday, June 17, however, I would e-mail tim@usatriathlon.org. He’ll pass it on to the right person. NOTE: The ballots on the election for directors must be back at the CPA’s office by June 28. Because of language in the bylaws, however, the ballot on the petition is not due at the counting house until near the end of July.

I haven’t received one either, but was curious if it was because I wasn’t an annual member for the original election. I did receive the monthly newspaper thing they send out. I didn’t have time to flip through it to see if the ballot was inside.

Hey Lew,

Is it the same CPA firm that oversaw the prior election?

Tim’s auto-reply on email indicates he is at the Olympic trials through next Thursday. I mailed to him asking about whether we can go with a write-in for an at-large position due to being uncomfortable with the two offered choices.

Yeah from what I’ve heard, they were supposed to be mailed out by the 14th. So they could have gone out sooner, which might explain why some have gotten theirs and some haven’t.

I think so. The name looked familiar.
Mine arrived yesterday in SF and in the return mail today.

You could probably write someone’s name in, as a protest vote. The BRC decision said all candidates must have nomination signatures in by the end of May to make the ballot. So, if you’re uncomfortable with either choice, you’ll have to vote for your regional rep, and put a national entry of None of the Above in, which someone in the ballot counting firm will probably have a good laugh at. Or you could choose to bite the bullet and vote for the lesser evil, knowing your vote will at least cancel out one vote for the bigger evil.

Ken Waugh and Associates has overseen the last several USAT elections and is doing the same with this one. We asked Tim Yount “why the same oid, same old”, and the answer was “we didn’t have time to switch”. After all, it had only been eight months since the last, much contested affair.
