I had a huge plate of spaghetti, a big bowl of salad, and 2 brownies for dinner. I finished eating at 7 tonite and was in the pool by 8. I swam for 65 minutes straight and felt great. I was really pushing it by the end of the workout. That’s my second longest swim (timewise) ever. The longest I’ve ever swam straight is 75 minutes. Sooooo… just thought I’d toot my own horn.
To all of you that think this is nothing… It probably is… but, I’m still happy about it.
Damn dude, I have no idea how you can eat an hour before you hit the water, but good onya! I for one have to be done eating 3-4 hours before I get wet or it’s coming right back out again (and you guys thought piss was nasty!). And even then, it’s usually a light meal.
I’m guessing 17 which is probably the last time I was able to do that. I can eat light an hour or two before swimming, but my morning runs on an empty stomach are always faster and easier and less chunder-ish than running in the evenings, after I’ve been processing food throughout the day.
well, i had to swallow a few times to keep it down but it wasn’t anything bad… barely bothered me. as for eating before running - that’s a different story. i need to be done eating at least 3 hours before a run.
I’ve found that I swim great right after eating too.
One time I had meatloaf, potatoes and peas just before I swam and felt great. For some reason my best meal before a swim has been 2 hot dogs, baked beans and potatoes. Go figure.
