Diamond Back TT bike - Serios

Im Liking the Diamond Back tt bike … http://www.slowtwitch.com/Products/We_Noticed_Diamondback_…_4622.html

Refreshingly good looking bike

While I like way less seat tube/stays on my Dimond,
That’s a pretty sweet looking rig.
Nice to see Diamondback trying to come back.
I remember when a DB BMX bike was at the very top of my “cool things I’ll get when I grow up” list.

What’s the story with them anyway? It seems like a bike shop guy told me they sold out to a company that whored them out to walmart? Then they went for cheaper instead of better?

Looks awesome, I too can remember when every kid wanted a diamondback BMX, they were the shit back in the day.

I had a DB Viper in 7th grade (1983), it was stolen from the bike rack at school, lock was cut. I was devastated, my buddies and I searched the surrounding neighborhood until dark looking for my bike. It is good to see them getting into a new market with the Serios.

Friend who rides one of their Podium road bikes said they just signed a French team for the next TDF. Looks like they are starting to go after the high end market for both road and TT. In person their bikes look pretty good so we will see.

Diamondback has a program for military/police/firefighters where they get something like half off (similar to Oakley SI). Heck of a deal if you do that for a living and the quality is good.

I had an 88 CoolStreak in a lime green. Whatta sweet ass bike that was.

Diamond Back, GT, Redline, Haro, Kuwahara, PK Ripper… Any other good ones from the BMX days? Schwinn gave it a good try with the Predator series.

I got a Diamondback Podium bike back in 2011. It was incredible deal with Shimano 105, but swapped the stock parts for SRAM Red. I was easily able to get the bike in at 14 lbs. Very nice frame. I ultimately sold it, since I got a bike with Di2. Diamondback is owned by the same group which hold Lapierre, Redline, etc. At first I thought their new frame was the same as the Lapierre, but it looks different.

Just remembered Hutch. Liked those a lot.

I used to have a Diamond Back Formula One with CW bars, Uni seat and I think I had Tuff Wheels as well. That is going way back. I still have my 1986 Shimano DX pedals that I had on that bike which are now on my son’s mountain bike. They are still the best spinning pedals I have ever owned.

Hmmm tell me more please!!

The last 2-3 years Diamondback has been making a very serious effort to make some really nice high quality road bikes, they currently sponsor the Optum pro team.
I had a chance to borrow a bike from one of the team riders and take it for a little spin (it happened to be my size and the same pedals that I use) and I was very impressed with how it rode.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one.

We featured Alex C’s Optum team bike a few months back

It is part of the promotive group, may have to ask them how to get a sign in for it. I am none of the above but a few friends are.

Ahh very good–I see it now–thanks much!!

The podium bikes do seem very nice. The serios looks really good. Obviously, geometry and front end geometry and pricing will weigh more on its success but looking fast is half the battle.

Since they do sponsor Optum and maybe this French squad I am guessing it will be UCI legal. I sure hope so.

It is. Some of the Optum squad are already racing it.
