Diagnosis...knee is ok?

All -

I had a sport med guy take a look at my aching knee (minimal pain on top of knee after about 3 miles into the run)…took Xrays…they all came back negative…

He recommended alleve and a cartilage building vitamin…and to start running again…

Anyone else have minimal knee pain while they run? Did it go away? I hate to see this turn into something worse…if this is a bad diagnosis, etc…

Did he do a more thorough diagnosis rather than just an x-ray? When does it hurt, what position, where does it hurt, how long does it last, etc.?

I had a knee problem that, luckily (in retrospect) turned out to be a muscle imbalance, not cartilage. A few sessions of physio with some specific exercises designed to strengthen the weak muscles and stretch out the tight ones, and I’m ok. Drugs are really only a stop-gap solution while working on solving the real problem.

He did the “normal” pull knee, squat, etc…Overall i think he felt it was overuse…

My knee only hurts when running (after the first 3 miles or so)…it developed several weeks ago after a long run (13-14 miles)…I then took several days off…went to my PCP and then was prescribed cortizone…took the dose…went back to running after a full week off…pain started again in mile 3…

Took several more days off (between appts) and finally was told to go back to running on Sat…I had a long bike yesterday and will be running today…
