Diagnose my knee problem (1)

I promise not to press charges for any incorrect diagnosis or treatment recommendations

In the summer I can tell when I’m over training when my right knee starts to get weak or giveout going up stairs. I haven’t been training for a few months, so I know that’s not the case. Recently, this weakness has happened a little more frequently 2-3 times a week. I decided to get back to training and on my first few runs I’m having these symptoms again. Behind the right knee and to the side I can feel some discomfort and the knee wants to give out for a few steps then it’s fine. I ran 2x’s for 25 min took 2 days off, ran again for 20 min and still had some trouble. Happens between 5-7 times in 25 min run. I took two more days off and today began having trouble almost instantly and continuously. I had to cut this one short after about 8 min.

Any suggestions.

thanks in advance, I’m sure the doc is in the near future

It kind of sounds like ITBS. Have you ever had IT band issues before?

The pain behind the knee is how far offset to the side? Inside or outside?

Where exactly is the pain when you get it? Is there a tender spot you can push on to elicit then pain? Does the pain move around. Any swelling in the knee. Does it hurt to squat or do a deep knee bend? Any pain down stairs? Does the knee feel unstable or actually “give out” on you? Does that feeling of weakness happen more running straight ahead or with some twisting? Does your knee click, crack or grind?
How old are you and what is your weight and height?
Any previous knee problems. Any x-arys yet?
