Di2 Adjustment issue

Hi all,

Trek Speed Concept 9.9 with ZIPP Super 9 rear disc if it matters.

I’m having trouble getting the shifting properly adjusted. I am having an issue with keeping the rear (23) cog engaged. I can shift to it, no problem, but Di2 auto adjusts after the sift and pulls out enough to cause it to shift into the 2nd cog. I have put the system in middle gear and adjusted to shift in maint mode. All gears seem to be good and alignment with the rear derailer seems good. Issue happens regardless of the front being int the big or small ring. I have also adjusted the lower limit manually so that the rear derailer is just off of the disc wheel. Literally, ‘just’ off. Any closer and it will touch on shift.

I cannot get it to stay in shift. The Di2 auto adjust (term?) is what is kicking it into 2nd.

What am I missing?

  1. Are you sure the chain isn’t too short?
  2. Have you manually adjusted the limit screws?
  3. Have you used the micro adjustments on the A junction/eTubes software?
  4. Are you sure the mech cage is straight?
  5. Have you tried a different wheel with the same cassette?

Long shot but I’ll share. I did a bunch of switching of cassettes (10 speed) between 2 wheel sets (one with 10 speed hub and the other with 11 speed hub) and managed to end with the wrong combination of spacers on one set and I had similar sounding shifting issues before I figured it out.

STP, thanks for the thought. All my road cassettes are 11 speed. Both road and TT bike are di2 9070 with DA cassettes. That said, I will verify the spacers are in proper order.
Thx,
Mike

I have had this problem. I have a Powertap wheel that was upgrade to 11-speed and the rear mech is very tight and in fact brushes the spokes in big rear gear. I tried to adjust the limited a bit for this to push it a little further away from the spokes. When I do so it shifts fine to in my case the 28, however the exact problem you describe then occurs. I moved the limited back out and problem solved, but then I can’t use that gear.

I was putting a 10 on an 11 speed hub and ended up missing a spacer. If you are just dealing with everything being 11, its probably unlikely you messed up.
