That is the nastiest water x2…so bad I stopped racing it. Its like spoiled chocolate milk…nice race!
how did you get the longer run course (garmin, somethign else? )
thanks and nice race!!
Two different Garmins. We think they put down 8.8 miles because it makes for a nice 50 mile total WTF??? Could be wrong though. But the average time you see in the splits is about 30 seconds slower than your time I bet.
yeah it felt a bit longer than 8.8 should have taken, and an even 50 makes sense with the half lite 50 for the name…
Nice burger, just a little over cooked.
86 degrees? I think not–it was a high of 77 during the race and the wind was a fair bit less than you posted…just wanna keep it real–it really wasn’t that hard of a day to race…
weather.com and two other local sites both had winds listed that high as well;-)
just from past experience living/training in the midwest (where it is ALWAYS WINDY), that was a fair bit OVER 20-25
.
My wife has an SRM that hit a high of 86 on the bike course. My car said 79. 86 is probably high but for me it seemed to feel like 86 on those isolated paved hot top roads.
I’m sure my SRM, sitting out in the sun all day said it was real hot too–that said, usually when one quotes temperature it is the ambient temperature we are refering to, not the radiant temperature–which is closer to what a SRM in the sun would record…don’t get me wrong–it was hot for sure! If it had really been 86 ambient, with a corresponding dew point of mid 60s then that indeed would have been bad.
As for the wind, accuweather and weather.com disagree by 10+ mph. I’m 125 years old (or so it seems some days) and I’ve experienced a lot of wind–I live in Stone Harbor during the summer–trust me, suatained wind was AT BEST 20 mph yesterday–it was gusty which was a bit of a challenge–but the sustained wind was nowhere near 30-35 mph…
Hey yesterday was a more difficult day than average to race in for sure but pretty much what you’d expect to see every other year if you raced in NJ in May as long as I have…
That burger looks legen…wait for it…dary!
fair enough on the Kona post–although I do regularly post on my blog and anyone that really cares–which I’d guess is about 2 people–know that I was doing XC
as to the temp I think I was responding to the OP where it said the temp was 86
Are you having a cranky night tonight?
"Are you having a cranky night tonight? "
Well, Texeira and Arod just hit back to back home runs so I guess yes.
don’t even get me going on the Sox–very, very depressing. it would be hard to exaggerate how disappointing they are this year (btw–I lived in Boston for 10 years and I lived through the whole Buckner thing)
