Developing A Swim Block

I’m currently training for my first IM (IMFL) and and using the Level 5 schedule in Matt Fitzgerald’s Week-By-Week Training Guide. I’m going on vacation for two weeks (no riding but will be running and swimming) and was thinking this might be a good time for a two week swim block to improve my swim (on a good day I’m a MOP swimmer) but I have no idea how to put one together. My plan (based on nothing) is to do my three scheduled workouts per week and add two additional workouts per week focusing on technique. Would this be a good idea? Should I add something else to the two additional workouts? Should I do something completely different for the two additional workouts? Any suggestions would be helpful.

If you wont have a long bike ride, how about a long swim, When I train for Im, I like to do acontinuous 5,000m swim. Its pretty boring, but I think it helps me, especially with the mental part. If you already are doing three swims, why not add the really long steady swim, then add something totally anerobic, like 50 50s on the top or something like that.

Thanks IRONLOBO,

I already have one long swim in my weekly schedule (3,000 meters this week), some short intervals (50s and 100s) as well as some longer intervals (200 fartleks). I figureed a swim block would let me fill in the missing pieces.

Anyone else?
