Deuces wild triathlon, show low az!

A brand new race, up in the mtns of eastern AZ- I enjoyed it and want to reccomend it for next year to anyone looking for something out of the heat here in Scottsdale or anywhere else. Eevation of around 6000 ft, so a good workout in the thin air. Show Low is a 3+ hr drive from the valley of the sun, so it’s not a day trip, but a nice up on Saturday/back on Sunday afternoon. I’ve been busy opening my restaurant (SASSI) all winter and have not trained much, so I just did the sprint, but the sprint and olympic courses were similar.

Everything started on time, no timing or other problems that I heard of, pretty run and bike courses in the ponderosa pines and a nice cool swim to start. Wetsuit strippers a big help also, and good support in the water. All in all a well run race.

Tri-SPorts had some nice raffle prizes including a bike frame or two. Lots of fruit to eat afterwards also.

Compliments to my friend Gail, volunteer coordinator, great job. Gail - Come see me at SASSI - email me at stephenp@sassi.biz

I heard some good things about the race—havning done Ironman I don’t trail ride/MTB much if at all

would this be a good first time xterra?? based upon the bike course?

Glad you had a good time! It was great to see you again.

Gonna have to head down off the mountain and check out that restaurant of yours…as soon as the mecury drops below 100, ok? Well, maybe sooner.

From what I heard of the Xterra course, it was considered beginner-friendly…well, if there is such a thing ;-).

There were also two road tris, a sprint and Olympic. You could still enjoy cool temps and great scenery (and the awesome raffle!) without having to hit that dreaded dirt. Please consider adding us to your race schedule for next year…guaranteed to be bigger and better!!
