Next week I will be in Detroit for a family gathing, and I will need to find a pool (Indoors and Warm preferably) and recommend place to get some running in.
I will staying at the Embassy Suites in Southfield, but I will have a car to get around.
In addition besides to a stop at Tom D’s Bikesport, what else should be on a traveling triathlete’s schedule in this area.

It likely isn’t as close as you would like but my gym is in Chelsea. From your hotel it is 1 hour almost to the nose. It is $10 a visit but I have 3-4 free passes you are welcome to use. Complete top notch facility with lap pool and indoor track. From a running standpoint you are welcome to come on over to my place in Fowlerville (also about an hour away) for some of the most beautiful places to run outdoors. Plenty of tree lined dirt roads. (I hate running in town).
Again this is likely further than you would want but the invite is open.
There are 2 Lifetime Fitness Clubs that are w/in 30 min. of Southfield. Novi, and Troy. Mapquest should be able to give you specifics. Meter pool and great all around club. Hot jacquz as well.
The best run I can think of is; Kensington Metro Park. Approx. 40 min. west on I-96. 8 mile paved loop, some good hills.
Lots of good places to SBR in the area. From Bikesport in Dearborn you can head out Hines Drive–a greenbelt that extends some 20 miles and is a frequent cycling and running venue for triathletes. For park settings there’s Island Lake State park and Kensington metro park North and West of Southfield. Both are favorite tri training sites.
There are many masters swim groups and sites to choose from, including Ford’s group (F.A.S.T.) that swims during the week at the Dearborn Rec Center, and on weekends at Schoolcraft College in Livonia (except next weekend, when they will be at Northville High Shool); the LALA group that Sheila Taormina started, which swims MWF evenings at Stevenson High School in Livonia; the Farmington Hydros; and informal groups at the various Lifetime Fitness centers and Sports Clubs in the area.
Pretty sure Hydro is a ladies swim group only
