I was hoping one of you located in the Detroit area could help me (or actually my friend) out. I have a friend that doesn’t know how to swim but would like to learn. He lives in Grosse Pointe and is looking for a nearby pool with adult swim lessons (he says he’s having difficulty finding lessons for anything but kids) or possibly an instructor with access to a pool that could give him private lessons. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Most YMCA’s I have been a member of offer swim lessons to adults.

Even if they don’t have swim classes, he might be able to convince a coach on staff there to give him private lessons.
The Grosse Pointe Woods Park pool just opened this weekend,and I know that they offer adult education swim lessons. I think that they range from beginner to competitive. Depending on which GP he/she lives in (they all have pools) check with the pool or the community center and they will have the info. I think that the classes run like $35 and the access to the park is free if you are a resident.
If you are in the Woods I will see you at the pool, otherwise I will look for you rididng along Jefferson!
