Destin Area peeps?

Anyone “on-board” familiar with decent places to run in “downtown” Destin…I’m talking about the neighborhoods near the “pass”…actually we will be out on the piece of land south of the harbor where the fishing fleet docks…

Any help??

Thanks a bunch!
Paul

I assume you are staying at the HaborView, very nice! You can catch a free water taxi to the other side of the harbour(about 100 yds.), run due south to the jetty’s, thats where the harbour meets the Gulf about 1/3 mile, turn due east and run about 3 miles on the beach past Henderson State park. You can then get on Old 98 hwy at the henderson Bed and Breakfast. There they have a great asphault paved running/ walk path 7 miles long. Hope this helps.

Drop the family off at Silver Sands Outlet. Go across the street to the Winn-Dixie and run down Old 98 from there. Ed is right about Old 98 - it is a very nice place to run.

Don’t know about run routes. But, I can heartily recommend the Shepherd’s Pie & Stout at McGuires and the Seafood Nachos at The Back Porch.

Run on scenic 98. Quiet road and a great view. You could always run on 98 as well. They have sidewalks.

Cross over 98 and start at the road right by the Whataburger. Go North and that is one of Destin’s old neighborhoods that snakes around forever. I did a 10 mile run there this fall. Yes, then I went in Whataburger and ordered the left side of the menu. Oh well.

Scenic 98 and old 98 are the same - and right behind Whatabooger.

Where is a good place to bike. Family and I will be staying down there a week this summer and I really don’t wont to miss any training.

Are you talking about that trail from Grayton Park down to Rosemary Beach? The timpoochee trail or whatever its called?

Seacrest does or did a half marathon on that, I think.
