Exactly what I need as a swimmer with legs that sink and a weak kick.
I used mine for the first time today at the St. Andrews Triathlon in Delaware. The water was quite warm - wetsuit definitely not needed, but allowed. The speedtube was just the trick. I’m a decent swimmer who benefits greatly from a pull bouy and a wetsuit gives me about 8 seconds per 100 yds. The speedtube did the same thing, but I didn’t overheat, and the thing takes no more than 3 seconds to remove. Literally - 3 seconds. For anyone who has ever struggled with a wetsuit you know this is QUICK!
My race didn’t go as well as that swim, I missed the turn in for T2 after the 2nd bike loop and wound up riding another mile or so. Pretty sure I would have had first, but wound up 4th instead. Dumb me - my fault entirely. I was having so much fun passing people still on the first loop that I didn’t pay attention at all.
Anyway, the speedtube is the only thing I’ll be using from now on as I rarely race in cold water and in 15 years of triathlon I’ve only done one where wetsuits were not allowed. BTW, I bought the 5mm thick one.
