Desoto 400 or better?

I need some new biking shorts and really notice the difference riding inside over the winter months. Normally outside trishorts are fine, but there is no way I could handle that inside. I have read all the benefits people have posted about the 400mile shorts, but is the pad thick/comfortable or are there better options?
thanks,
joe

Great great shorts. My favorite. Especially for the money. But, I can’t compare them to the uber-expensive Assos. i won’t pay that much for shorts no matter how good they are.

Do a search … lots of reviews on ST.

Fantastic. Wonderful. Great.

I wore the 400-mile bib exclusively on a recent 650 mile ride (over 7 days) without a saddle sore, chafing, or anything.

Only shorts I wear. The pad is fine for indoor riding. The pad is a bit thicker than tri shorts, but I race and even did an IM in the newer 400 mile shorts. Couldn’t run in older 400 mile shorts though. Great deals on 08 shorts through Desoto if they still have you size. Shorts last longer, too. Shorts are worth trying.

I love mine. You can’t go wrong with them.

Desoto 400 + Arione Tri = comfy all day long! I received a pair of Performance Ultra shorts for xmas which are also quite good.

I think the grey version of the shorts look great, I personally never tried them but everyone I know that has them loves them. Make sure to get bibs though!

Hello,

Emilio De Soto here. Thanks to all of you for your kind words. As you can see, there are a lot of STers who like our 400 Mile Bike Shorts and 400 Mile Bib Shorts.

I would like to personally invite you to form your own opinion about these shorts, or any of our products. By the shorts and use them, if you do not feel they live up to their praise, you can return them for a complete refund. No questions asked.

If you would like help with sizing, send me an email.

Cant get any better than that. I am heading to the website right now.

I bought a pair of 400 Mile bibs in November and then quickly bought another pair. All of my indoor riding this winter has been with the 400 Mile bibs.

For outdoors I have continued to use bibs made of the super thick brushed lycra/spandex for warmth. I am sure that my outdoor rides will be in the 400 Mile bibs as soon as it warms up.

You don’t get service like that very often. Thx Emilio. I’ll be getting some for my birthday

best shorts I have ever had. have spent up to $200 for other shorts. don’t wear the others much any more

Just bought my first pair of 400’s last week. Two short rides so far but you notice how comfortable the pad is the second you sit down. Plus you can’t beat the customer service.

Great Customer Service!!!

I’ve seen a lot of the posts and this just confirms that excellent customer service will reward you.

I’ll be looking at picking up a pair of the bibs myself to replace my current over-priced, poor quality bibs.

Big fan of the 400 Mile shorts. Pretty much the only thing I wear except for the De Soto tri shorts from time to time. The thing is I’ll have to wait until the 2010 models come out before getting a new pair. I really dislike the design of the 2009 shorts with the white accents. Just give me a plain black shorts.

Glad life allows for different tastes :-). I bought them specifically because of the white stitching and leg bands… and they turned out to be a great pair of shorts.

Im obviously a bit impartial. But if you like the tri shorts tri the Riviera, the pad on those will blow your mind.

x (what is it now) 10?

I’ve got the 400 mile bibs. They are outstanding and (as you can see) Emilio is extremely helpful and patient helping with sizing.

I’ve already “made” two friends buy them and they’re also both converts.

Bought a pair and it was all I used for every mile of IM training. Raced in them, but did change to a (their) tri short for the run.

I also am waiting for a return to good old plain black before buying my next pair.

Love mine too. Super comfy and the pockets seem to hold anything and everything perfectly, whether it be a single house key or a large cell phone.
