Denver Veloswap

Has anyone been to this? Is it worth it?

Who is John Galt?

Yes, been to it…14x to be exact. If you have something specific like parts (new or used) and want a better deal than any store just about…go. Cheap mt bike? Yep, great place to get one of high quality for way less if you know anything about bikes, if not, bring a friend who does know what to look for in a quality bike. Some pro teams used to sell their seasonal overstock like Navigator’s Insurance, great stuff great price. Jonathan Vaughters was there one year when he was on US Postal selling off all his gear (new & used)…he’s kind of a tiny dude so none of it really fit me. But there are super hard to find items there (old gears & parts), often cheap tires or $5 seatposts that have nothing wrong but a scratch on them that would cost normally $100.
It used to be cheap to get in but the price went up when it got popular & keeps going up (although you can get discounted tickets at REI or Performance), so it is approaching the “I can wait until I need something & get it on sale at a retail store.”

Not going this year b’cuz I don’t really need anything…well, would like an R5 maybe but that is outta the question. But I’m going to post a thread on it soon asking about them…in case I can sell one of my “tri” bikes.

not to steal the thread… but…

Can someone tell me a good route for a century from denver not going into the mountains… is 93 up through golden a bad idea?

Anything south?

I’m in lakewood/denver area…

Pretty much a big ol’ bike swap meet. Some good deals can be found. I went a few years ago. Many of the vendors took only cash; however, with the poliferation of the cube and intuit’s card swiper app more vendors may be doing credt card sales.

Been there many times, IMO well worth it. Bargains galore on everything biking. Years ago and prior to his TDF announcing days, Bob Roll had a booth selling items. I bought a Levi jean jacket from him for cheap. Wish I was closer, I’d be there tomorrow.
