Does anyone know any group rides in denver? I’m really hoping that something exists. Thanks guys!
Me too and have been for a couple of years. It seems like all of the good groups ride up in Boulder.
Let me know if you need more. I can probably scare some up.
They take place in my basement on the trainer(starting this week). So far it’s a group of 1. Come on over!
I’m in Colorado Springs, let me know what you find, or come down here. Group of 2
I definitely need some info on this as well. I’m moving from Dallas to Denver in a month and am going to need to find some new training partners.
The TriBella Women’s Race Team is hosting a ride from the TriBella shop on Bannock St. this Saturday at 9:30. They are going for about 3 hours. It is a women’s team but men also show up for the ride.
I’m always willing to add anyone to our cycling list serv that is mostly made of local EM docs and nurses. Instead of complaining that there are no groups, let’s make one!
PM me if you want to be added.

Ryan, since you work with Melissa Mantak do you happen to know Mark Hillers? He’s a friend that works with her and just moved to Boulder. My training partner in Texas just started working with her as well. I’m moving to Denver in Dec and will likely be getting in some sessions with Mark in Boulder. I’ll be living on the south side of Denver though so any recommendations on good training areas or groups around that area?

You sir are in prime real estate from what I hear. There’s a starbucks group ride that meets at the starbucks tejon location on saturdays and sundays at 10am. Michi Weiss showed up a couple of weeks ago, so did some garmin cervelo boys from what I hear. Some resident athletes from the OTC also attend so it’s a great ride, high quality/high talent. I’ll ask around some more for you.

We need to make a swim group, I’m so sick of goodson it’s ridiculous. That pool is gross.

Just moved here from fort collins but we had a group ride EVERY night there. It was awesome. I know the denver bicycle touring club has a few rides, not all of them are really “safe” to go on though, unless a bunch of guys on mountain bikes sounds like a fun ride to you. Most of the advanced stuff has about 10 people show up, so that might be a better option. I know they have a deer creek ride. In addition to what others have posted.
Bikesource Highlands Ranch has a “team” they support but those rides are also not very rigorous. I used to be able to keep up on my mountain bike when that was all that I had, and I promise you I was a slow guy. 10am saturdays.
Bicycle village says they have a group ride. Not sure any info on that.
I’m in Colorado Springs as well. Any info would be awesome.
Rocky Mountain Tri Club (www.rmtriclub.com) does group rides (or bricks) on Saturday’s during the summer. We also use google groups to organize other rides throughout the year and have group coached run workouts on Tuesdays and swim sessions on Thursdays. With over 400 members you’re bound to find some people to train with.
When there is enough daylight (sometime in the spring through October) there are competitive group rides at the Meridian office complex in Lone Tree. I think they start around 6 pm.
Around the start of the new year, there are rides at 9 and 10 am that do an hour or so loop through Chatfield and out to arrowhead golf course called the “hour of power”. People meet up for this at the wadsworth parking area at Deer Creek. My fiance does these rides, so I don’t know all the details, but he typically does the hour of power twice and then there is a smaller group of them that rides up high grade after.
We do a group ride every Saturday leaving the Cycleton bike shop (in Stapleton) at 7:00 am. It’s a flat loop out toward the airport and back. 2 solid hours, usually with a few good breaks and chases.
EDIT
I know Russ and a lot of the guys at Cycleton also do 1hr rides to and around City Park during the week (starting from the shop), usually starting around 11:30 am-12:00 pm.

I’ve met Mark once and have been in touch with him about meeting up for some workouts, though he’s in Boulder. Our coach is trying to organize a January 1-week pro/elite AG camp with workouts at DU and such, which should be good. I too live in South Denver (Near DU), let me know when you get to town and we’ll do some training. DU is the best pool around (50m LC in a.m., masters team, lots of lanes), Washington Park and the Highline Canal are where I do 85% of my running miles.
I’ve connected with a few other Denver tri guys about group training. A few other tri guys quit the sport recently, but there’s a few here. Let me know when you get here, ryanborger@gmail.com. Good luck on the move out.
thanks for the pointer on the chatfield ride! id forgotten that one existed. definately need to put that on as a hard bike/run session.

Good idea to get out of the city form time to time, especially after Xmas when the really riding kicks off. Most Saturday oval rides are ~90 miles
