DeMarchi Bibs review

After recent threads on which bibs/shorts to wear I thought I’d just add my 2 cents after having just completed my first ride in my new DeMarchi Contour Bibs… Holy comfy bits…I wish I had bought some years ago!!! Let me state for the record that these are the first bibs I’ve had, so I am only comparing to budget shorts from Performance, the difference is night and day. It was only a 50 mile ride, so no long saddle time just yet, but still, I can’t believe how comfortable they actually are. The main material is designed to ‘‘gently hug’’ (label speak) the contours of the body, which at first felt different to the usual tight-hug, but once riding, proved to be soooo comfy and the chamois is superb. For anyone who is still debating shorts over bibs, make the switch, they are the dogs bollocks!

Glad to hear you like the bibs. I have been curious about the Demarchi’s and now I am probably going to have to purchase some and judge for myself. Now I have a question that is slightly on/off topic - I have regularly heard that catch phrase from time to time but other than their size, I have yet to work out how canine testicles can relate to something of exceptional merit?

Michael

I think the phrase came about due to the testicles in question being so… well… outstanding! Therefore anything outstanding in England is referred to as the dog’s bollocks. Now if the bibs are just as comfy after 100 plus mile rides then they will be upgraded to “the racing dog’s bollocks”, racing dogs being the top dogs.
I am a displaced (or is that misplaced?) limey by the way!

got my demarchi bibs in the form of an AG2R kit (and I wear it regularly so there retro cycle grouches…bite me)…they feel sooooo sweet I wish now I have bought a few more pair…had to have them sent over from Germany…speaking of…any readers on the forum living over there that would be willing to work something out and help me buy some more AG2R/Decathlon stuff? It so rocks

My DeMarchi bibs came in the mail yesterday. They fit great but I’m hesitant on riding in them.

That pad they have going on there is like a diaper. It’s huge. Hell it’s practically it’s own saddle. There is a lot going on down there. A lot more than I’m currently riding.

Not sure how long of ride I should go on as a test. Seeing that tomorrow is 5 hours I might not use them.

Dan

the dogs bullocks…better to have them than not…if you are a dog
