Just looking for general feedback on this race from anyone who has done it before. Is the course as flat as the RD proclaims, is distance to T1 really a quarter mile, good vibe, etc.? Slow day at work so thought I’d ask.
Thanks in advance.

It’s a nice race, although last year they had to cancel the swim. The Reedy Point Bridge is about 3/4 of a mile long and 4-5%, which isn’t too terrible. Watch the weather, because last year the run was unbelievably hot along the canal.
To add to what Matt said: Yes, the run from transition is about 1/4 mile. Bring an old pair of running shoes to leave at the swim exit. Two years ago the T1 run was more like 1/2 mile due to very muddy trails forcing them to run the athletes along the road instead of through the woods. I was one of about 3 people who were glad the swim got canceled last year (slow swimmer). Lots of drafting on the bike last year but USAT officials wrote lots of penalties so they were out trying to keep it fair. Post race food consists of a box lunch, a lot of people bitched about this but it doesn’t bother me. At least everyone gets food, even the slower folks. I’ll be the hungover, sleep deprived guy.
Why was the swim cancelled? It’s in a lake isn’t it?
a sewage pipe upstream from the lake burst
I was talking toa USAT official (who LURKS here - wow, you guys are awesome!), who told me that it was a precaution, he didn’t think the lake actually got contaminated
and the roads are REALLY flat
