So I listened to all the great reviews and got some 400 mile bike shorts by Desoto. Loved the look right out of the bag. Different material than what I am used to-more supportive. BUT you can see right through them! No where in the glowing reports did anyone mention how see-through the material is, especially in the aero position. What am I to do? Get a bike skirt? I don’t want to send them back(I think I lost the reciept anyway). Do other folks care if you can see every nook and cranny?

I have two pair of 400 mile shorts (bib in blue and short in grey) and do
not have the same issue with transparent areas?
Emilio is the best in the business on customer satisfaction. E-mail them.
Ditto on contacting them. Thy have always taken care of their customers. Email 'em and they will take care of you. Let us know what happens.
did you call Desoto company before just posting this thing up on the board?
You might as well just come out and say that the paint on your Cervelo is chipping…
I gotta say, my 400 mile bibs are the same. I’ve got a pair of '08 in the charcoal and have really only worn them on the trainer.
Sure they’re comfy but I’ll never buy another pair. I wonder how many more ST’ers are rolling around out there with their asses showing, afraid to bring it up on here.
Thanks for coming out of the closet cayenne, you’re not alone!
Get a size larger. I bet that’s the “problem”.
agreed - these shorts rock
.
Well, the company emailed me back and said for the most part that was the way it was supposed to be due to the wicking properties. They have a double layer over the most “sensitive” areas. I guess I am more modest than most triathletes:)
I have the the shorts and the bibs both in black. My shorts are mediums and the bibs are larges. my larges look alot more black when I wear them thatn my mediums, but I wouldn’t call them see through.
I have the graphite shorts and never shown a thing and never got burnt. They are by far my most comfortable bike shorts to keep me comfy on my long rides. They worked perfect for my Ironman last year. Think of the positive side of these shorts if they are as thin as you say, you can pee while riding and it will instantly go down the leg and not be soaking into the pad
The slowtwitch appropriate response would be that you need to work on your aero position a little more if you are worried about your junk showing ![]()
I guess I momentarily forgot where I was posting! There aren’t any “nooks and crannys” here at this forum. I will get right on that extra trainer session this afternoon!
Hello, Emilio De Soto here. I think that the person from my company who emailed you also said something like this:
"We hope this explanation will address your concerns, but it is important to us that you are ultimately completely satisfied with every aspect of our products, quality, fit, aesthetics, performance and craftsmanship.
Please let us know if this is not the case, and we will continue to work to make you happy."
You were assured your shorts are not defective, and you can return them for a refund even without a receipt. It affects the business of a small company when someone claims something is defective, when it is not. The shorts are double-lined in the areas where they need to be.
Again, we want you to be happy. If you want a refund, send me an email.

I will not even go into my story about the see-throughedness of the 400-mile shorts…but I will note that apparently it’s NOT just you, because I think it was with last year’s model that desoto added another layer of material, like an extra panel, over the “rear” area. I love the shorts and all Desoto products, but yeah, put me in the “more modest” category. ![]()

Sounds like Emilio is trying to keep you happy.
Thanks for the fast responce to the email over the weekend. I think I “asked” if they were defective as no one reported them to be thin in the reports before. So I kinda assumed by the “?”. Thanks for correcting me. I did find my reciept but I did love everything else about the shorts so I will keep them. I am not the one who looks at my nooks and crannys on the bike anyway, everyone else does! So until I get complaints, I will go ahead on!
Better customer service than DeSoto Sports can’t be found anywhere.
Thanks to Emilio for running a great company with excellent products and services.
I a sure nobody will complain or notice for that matter. It was not I who responded to your email, it was Chuck, one of my best customer service people. Please let me know if you have any other issues.
