I’m looking to upgrade my wheels. Are there wheels that are more durable than others that I could with and race with? Maybe a 60/90 clincher? I’m looking for something that I wont have to worry too much about damaging during training.
train with aluminum wheels and race with deep carbon wheels.
Last year I purchased a set of ENVE 67 SES wheels with PowerTap hubs and intended to ride them just for racing. I ended up training on them as well. From the time I bought them to the end of the season I put about 2000 miles on them and they held up well.
When I get a chance to get outside again this year my plan is to race and train on them again, but they will need a new set of tires before the end of the season.
.
I use my Jet 9 with a PT and standard box front wheel for training. For racing I throw a wheelcover on the 9 and use a Jet 6 on the front. Works for me.
Buy wheels with structurally aluminum rims and carbon aero sections. At the upper price end of this type of wheel are the HED JET Plus line while Planet X makes this type of wheels for a couple hundred dollars. I would avoid structurally carbon rims, including wheels like the Zipp 60s which have an aluminum brake track, if you plan on using them for serious training miles.
I’ll second the guy who posted the Hed 3s. Mine aren’t the deep rims like in the picture, bu I’ve been training on H3 clinchers with no issue. I bought them to race but also have a set of Stinger 7/Disc, so I just train on the H3s. They’re stiff and maybe a little bumpy but I love them.

I think you just missed Flo wheels “order 9”. Those wheels are very durable and have reasonable cost.
I used to ride only tubulars. I raced on H3 rear and 90 front. I have switched to clinchers. I train and race on Flo wheels. I have a 60 front and a 90 rear. They are great. I train on the computrainer for the most part, very little road riding. I have been really happy with them.
