I’m looking for suggestions (custom builders or stock) for a set of 650c clincher training wheels. I would like a wheel with a deeper rim (~40mm) but don’t want to spend a ton of money and would like to keep it under $500 if possible.
I like my 650cc Zipp 404’s clinchers which I use for both training and racing. They will be spendy if bought new, but the 650cc size seems to come up on Ebay or Tri classified sites pretty often as people “upgrade” older 650cc bikes. I also have a 650cc pair of Velomax training wheels that are pretty dependable.
Ya, I picked up my 404 clinchers for $800 used 3 years ago, I train on them often and race in them (but don’t use them for IT sessions), with no problems, seem to be pretty sturdy.
I have been very happy with my Velocity DeepV. came with my bike 5 years ago and still going strong. I recommend tubes with 60 mm valves.
They were on WheelBuilder.com last time I looked.

I train on an old front wheel I picked up off of ebay a couple of years ago. Velocity Deep V rim and Zipp hub … both over 10 years old and they perform like new.
