This might sound like a wrong question to ask, but as I have been told: There are no dumb questions, only dumb answers.
So I’m visiting the states, plan on buying a pair of race wheels (most likely HED). I make the trip out to GearWest (awesome shop) with my bike, a Transition Comp, to get fitted. They move the seat a bit up and forward, and Roberts your fathers brother. Then I catch a glimpse of the B2 sitting there…
I could technically get the B2, tho no race wheels and I would have to sell my 07 Trannie here in the US.
Is it worth it? Or would I get more “pleasure” with racewheels?
P.S.
MSRP for the Trannie is 1800 from the webpage. I would let it go for half that.
Race wheels should be one of the last investments you make… a good frame, aero helmet, good position will make a bigger difference.
And you can get a disc cover at wheelbuilder.com for your “stock” rear wheel on the B2 for very very cheap (or a renn 575 disc), which will in my opinion have the same sexyness as say jet 50’s, and very little aerodynamic difference (seconds over a 40k)
There was an article by the guys at the MIT wind tunnel in triathlete magazine about 6 months back… I forget if the aero helmet vs. regular helmet difference was greater than racing wheels vs. stock wheels, but I remember the number being very close, with the conclusion being that an aerohelmet is a much better investment in terms of bang for your buck
Look up “MIT wind tunnel” or something of the sort in the search… you’ll find other interesting results also (like having a bento box is faster than not having one)
