I’ve been lurking for a bit a decided to ask a question that’s nagging me: is a 1:05:31 a decent time for a guy on the bike at Chicago? I am a complete newbie, had no computer on the bike, and the results page doesn’t want to cooperate with me.
It’s a good time as long as you are talking about the international distance and not the sprint race. If that time is from timing mat at bike out to timing mat at bike in it would have put you in at least the top 200 out of 3600 finishers.
Thanks for the info. Yep, it was the mat to mat time if that is how they mark it on the “athlete tracking” page (international, yes ) . The bike was the scariest part for me, as it was my first tri and I didn’t want to crash/get penalized/piss off other riders. The craziest part was dodging all of the water bottles and miscellaneous gear that got launched at all of the bumps. All of my bike work had been on stationaries (sp?) at the gym until about 3 weeks before the race; I had to admit I was really doing the race, broke down, and bought a bike. My “real world” saddle time was limited and had no idea how to gauge myself. Problem is, now I’m hooked and trying to find time to start doing some real training…I’d like to work on my time and start to get a little more competitive.
Are you talking about the “Athlete Tracking” used by Accenture? Was what you finally got a bunch of bar graphs…abot 48 hours after the race? This is what happened at NYC Triathlon as well. Results were nowhere to be found after the race, and that’s the first time that has happened to me. Accenture may do a number of things well, be race timing is not one of them. Bells and whistles and bar graphs? Humbug. The bar graphs are fine, I guess, as an extra, but shouldn’t be the main form of results. All of these races should hire Sportstats to do their timing – results are posted almost immediately, and are up on the website by the evening!
go to http://www.timberlinetiming.com/ and on the right side pick accenture 05. On the next screen pick accenture 05 international and then on the next screen type in your bib #. If you want you can look at your entire age group and see where you ranked in comparison. hope this helps
