So Tim Marr, our local top pro just decided last minute (and we’re talking pretty last minute here, a month out from the race, DHL’d him shoes directly to Korea for the run…) to enter Ironman Korea. He’s done a bunch of 70.3 races, ITU Long Course races, etc but never an Ironman. Held on pretty well though finishing in 4th place and coming off the bike in 2nd. Not bad for a debut!
Working on a “Congratulations TIM!!!” banner for him when he gets back. His wife called me last night sooooo excited she was calling everyone she new to tell us how he did. Sigh, I remember the days when I used to beat this guy…
Congrats brotha! Hell of race man considering the lack of Ironman specific work was put into it. Guess the wedding might have played a part in your fantastic race. you the man. see you in austin
Hey, it’s Tai, not Tim, anyways, I’ll pass that along for him, especially the wedding night part;) Is he heading up to Austin for some training? Man you gotta work on his organizational skills while he’s up there. Get him set with a shoe sponsor or something. You racing Clearwater again?
I know. Just giving him a shout out.
I will be doing Clearwater again this year. Changed my work schedule up and hoping to drop my time or place better then the seventh last year. Looks like the field is going to be stacked though! You heading over again?
Tim should be heading down a few weeks before Clearwater. That boy needs to market himself and get some gear.
Coach says he’s going to kill him if he took the slot. First IM on one month’s training, then the next 7 weeks later?! He’s home, but no word yet on the slot - and people are asking…
I was at Korea and I dont think he took the slot. Think I saw Hubert Hummel signing up for the slot and there was only one slot for the pros at Korea.
but yeah, Tim is one funky cool guy…and I bet he got alot of stick frm the pros aft the race cuz he was the only one who walked funny amongst them after kicking most of their but*s on the course…haha…
