My wife’s bike, a 2006 Kestrel Talon, has been having a problem with the seat post angle adjustment slipping for a few weeks (aero seatpost) and her A race is Vineman next weekend. I promised to have it fixed by race day a long time ago. This morning I took it all apart, inspected it, found nothing that looked out of the ordinary and re-assembled it but the problem did not go away.
I phoned up Davis Wheelworks, where we bought the bike in March, and asked if they had ever run into the problem. The tech I spoke to, Tim, said he had not run into that before. I explained that I was 90 miles away but could swing by on business if they could look at it quickly and tell me if they knew what was wrong. They are slammed this week, but offered to make some time to see me if was coming so far.
So I packed up her bike, along with my spare seat post (non-Aero) and dropped off the bike/post and went to my office nearby to work for an hour. When I returned the aero seatpost was off, the spare post was on, they had provided me with the required shim for the seat tube, and the paperwork to warranty the problem post was ready for my signature. No charge for any of it.
These guys could have simply said, sorry Jack, we are too busy, but they made time in their schedule for someone they didn’t know from Adam.
Thanks Guys, I know where I’ll be buying my next bike!
