Dave Scotts' components on left side?

There’s an add in the tri mags for Endurix (I think) where Dave is riding a bike with the chain rings and gears on the left side of the bike (when sitting on the bike). What gives? Are there bikes out there with that set up or is that just something for the add?

I’ve never seen this setup before. What would the advantage be?

Tom, is this not just a mirror image of the photo? Check for any text visible.

Yeah, I’ve seen plenty of bikes with that setup. In fact when I was in Molokia last summer (great vacation!), most of the bikes there had that setup. If you have the complete Shimano catalog, the one that has a pic of the Pope next to Shimano equipped bike, on the last pages they have their left-side line. It’s only available in Tiagra though.

someone in the art dept flipped the slide to the wrong side during layout of the page
.

That was my guess too, Randall.

Whew. At first glance, I thought this subject was going to have something to do with how Dave settled into his speedos.

“How do you dress, sir???”

Always to the left.

Haha at my old team we did this survey. It turns out that the number of people who like their meatstick on the right side is equal to the number of people who like theirs on the left side. It was a good way to unload some of the nervousness before the race.
