Mustane is somewhat of a knucklehead. Nothing he says should strike anyone as odd. Consider that he’s a 40-something evangelical with no prior awareness of Rick Santorum, for reference.

Of course that’s what it is. But when actors actually come out in support of Republicans and conservative issues they are marginalized by the media or, like Dave here, they are already marginal people. Look at the list of “conservative” actors I can think of without looking them up:
- Chartlon Heston - A once great academy award winning actor, marginalized based on his vocal view on gun rights later in life. When he died many who weren’t alive during his era viewed him as an old fashioned has been.
- Kelsey Grammer - he hasn’t worked in a decade
- Jon Voight - A once great actor, but today in the eyes of many he is just Angelina Jolie’s crazy dad.
- Dave Mustaine - nevermind
- Ron Silver - Who?
