Daniels running formula

Hi
I was wondering if any had any experaince of how well it predicts your time?
I entered my 10K PB (31:51) and it then came out 2hr 28mins for a marathon which seems extremely fast should i aim for or should i aim for about 2:50mins?

That book may be the best dollar-for-dollar investment I ever made with regards to my training.

The time predictors are stunningly accurate…as long as you do the mileage needed as the distances go up. I have never put the training time to pursue it up to the marathon, but from 5k to 10-miler/Half-Marathon distance it has been so close it can be scary!

There’s something a bit strange if you can do a 31:51 10k but only a 2:50 marathon. What’s your training background and where was the 10k done?

I don’t think a 2:30 marathon should seem extremely fast to a 32 minute 10 K runner.

Is that personal best 10K a recent best? Like in the last few months?

That is what you should use.

What jaretj said. Plus remember a little thing called specificity.

Ok cheers that 10K was about 2months ago so i will aim for a 2hr28min marathon

.

A 2:28 is realistic. If you put in the proper training for the marathon. The chart may vary a little bit from your 1500 m time to marathon. However I find it very compatible across the board with my times. I’m aiming to run a 2:22 in a few months with my times. I seem to be just about on target with my half marathon time this month. Good luck in the marathon! What one are you running?
