Is my wish. Let her draft the swim and fall in line on the bike and see how it unfolds on the run. No, she won’t win, well, probably not but I would love to watch the race that will never happen. Mass start …All Pros.
I had the same wish about Chrissie after she learned to swim…
She rides by herself then has nobody push her on the run. I think we would see faster times for sure. Probably more men blowing up as well.
Will still have more testosterone than anyone on the start line.
I was hoping this was an Alpe d’Huez triathlon thread. Insane that only 5 men beat her on the day and she had 30min on 2nd Carrie Lester who is no slouch.

Carrie just doesn’t want it badly enough
.
Pointless thought. She can’t even hang with the top women on the swim (Lucy Charles, Sarah True, etc.). Plus she concedes 20-30min to pro men on the bike. Not gonna happen

It is not the same race. Just like the Olympics where there was a rather pedestrian, I think it was the 1500m maybe, I could be wrong, it was a race. There is a lot more to pro racing then just what is seen. If you want to do what is said, fine, only pay based on position. Only pay the sponsor bonuses paid by position. Race to win, not to come in 10th and see what happens. Daniela is an incredible athlete but it is really not a fair comparison.
IMHO If you took the average front for of the pack Kona racer and put them in the pro field by my guess they are going to finish between 30 minutes and 2 hours slower than racing out of the age-group wave if they face some real pressure. If the still race their own race I might be able to believe they would only be 15-20 minutes slower
Again awesome athlete but she is coming out of the water with Wurf, Sanders, Kienle etc… While she might be able to swim there those boys are going to dust her on the bike yet those boys are the ticket to the front of the race.
If you want to do what you are saying we need a real time-trial effort from everyone. That I would pay to see.
That race will only happen in your bedroom when the lights are out and you are tucked in under the blankets…
.
That was the article that made me post.
I think she knows she doesn’t have to hang with them to beat them. I just think if you challenged her against faster athletes she would surprise us. She has NO competition right now.
Right now her competition is Pro men. How motivated can she be beating 2nd place by 30 minutes, over and over and over again? We all know if Daniela starts the race is over. Idk, she deserves to be challenged. If not starting with the men then how?
** I just think if you challenged her against faster athletes she would surprise us. She has NO competition right now. **
She is plenty challenged right now, by her idiot self. The smart Daniela is being beaten by the idiot one, unfortunately for her, when the idiot one blows out, the smart one goes with her.
And come on you guys, this was a nothing race with no competition to speak of, on both sides. IF you all think she still needs to race with men after Kona, then something is wrong with the “real” female competition…
**Again awesome athlete but she is coming out of the water with Wurf, Sanders, Kienle etc… While she might be able to swim there those boys are going to dust her on the bike yet those boys are the ticket to the front of the race. **
So, basically what you’re saying is that starting with the boys will have no bearing on Daniela’s race except for maybe a faster swim time. She swims with a faster group instead of by mostly herself (since Lucy will be out in front). Then she’ll bike by herself. And run alone while picking off a few of the male pros. Business as usual.

back when the sport was hard the women used too.
She rides by herself then has nobody push her on the run. I think we would see faster times for sure. Probably more men blowing up as well.
Ummm, excuse me but in the last two Kona races, Lucy led the race until round 90 mi into the bike. So she does have some competition for the first half or so of the race. I mean, one of these days, she’s not going to catch Lucy on the bike but rather on the run. And then a year or two later she does not catch Lucy at all as she leads the entire race from start to finish. IMO, the main question is how many years will this take.
How motivated can she be beating 2nd place by 30 minutes, over and over and over again?
She was in 2nd place until late in the run at Ironman Texas this year and ended up winning by less than 2 minutes over Jocelyn Mccauley…
Can you elaborate on what you mean by “smart Daniela” being beaten by “her idiot self”? Are you referring to a particular race?
She has NO competition right now.
The world is full of naysayers. Fortunately, there are plenty of PRO women out there that take no notice of ridiculous comments like this. And they believe they can beat her.
The world told Roger bannister the 4min/mile was impossible. He took no notice of them and went ahead and did it anyway.
Is my wish. Let her draft the swim and fall in line on the bike and see how it unfolds on the run. No, she won’t win, well, probably not but I would love to watch the race that will never happen. Mass start …All Pros.
What’s the objective?
I don’t get the logic. She’s not male, she shouldn’t start with the men, unless all the other pro women do to.
In my opinion it devalues the female race, to suggest that if you’re good enough you might deserve to race with the men.
Would she still be eligible for a female placing in your scenario or is she actually racing as a man?
