Maybe Laidlow was just grabbing a few extra gels to take back home for training. I think most of us do that vs spending $4/gel right? Someone at IMCHOO last year took like 20 extra gels home.

I know that guy, and he is not your average age grouper. A training experiment for a guy like him is not the same as for most of us. This is a really bad example. He’d be front of pack in all 3 sports off the couch for a 70.3. Whether that’s because he built the fitness in the past at a crazy level or it’s “genetics” (whatever that means), he is by no means the standard by which even a very good local triathlete should measure.

and he’s a heck of a nice guy too
