That being said, it’s good for a quick buzz before heading off the the church Christmas party.
I cannot force myself to drink vodka. Even a screwdriver makes me squirm. Like turpentine.
Shot of apple vodka
Shot of peach schnapps
Shot and a half cranberry
Jolly rancher
Heaven in a glass

You’re not drinking the right stuff.
Try Tito’s.

You know why that drink tastes good? Because you CAN’T TASTE THE VODKA!
I would be willing to bet that at least 90% of the people who drink vodka mix it so strongly that you cannot taste the vodka. That’s about all you need to say about vodka.
I actually am quite fond of vodka. Finlandia is my favorite. It mixes well with many a drink, vodka martini, black Russian, and my all time favorite a bloody Mary. Just think of it as blank canvas on which to build a tasty drink.

You make my point - 2 of the 3 drinks you name are mixed so hard you cannot taste the vodka. No one really likes vodka. They just like the cool bottles and fun names.

I have stopped drinking. Not by choice but just by some other method. I had to force down a few beers the other night. I just don’t want to drink anymore. Really great but at the same time really sad.

Not so. I tried the same drink with regular, non apple vodka and it wasn’t nearly as good. Actually, with regular vodka it’s a fuzzy naval.

Red deaths and kamikaze’s what do they have in common?
Two drinks which if I even smell now I puke. But boy the 20 or so pitchers I franks of them one night sure went down smooth. They did burn a bit coming back up later the next morning thoug.
Back in my student days I had a summer job where the company owner used to kill a 26 oz every day mixed with orange juice and you’d never realize he’d been drinking until late at night. He must have really loved the stuff.
I don’t mind it myself once in awhile.
I will take cheap rum over cheap vodka any day. You can’t force me to drink cheap tequila.
For vodka, I go with Grey Goose. Kettle One is good, too. I usually go for micro/ home brew beer or rum and coke. My wife doesn’t mix with whiskey, so I don’t keep it in the house. There is drunk, and there is DRUNK. for some reason, whiskey, even in moderate amounts, makes her DRUNK. And not in the fun way. For that. it’s tequila!
I like vodka and tonic. Add a lime and a few olives (possilby with bleu cheese or jalapeno). I can drink them whenver I am not in the mood for a beer.
For some reason, I like Stoli. I think because it is easiest to order in a noisy bar.
JSA has it right. The only good thing vodka has going for it is its ability to not fuck up the flavor of whatever you’re mixing it with. That it it’s not as obvious on my breath when I’m drunk.
2 x shots Absolute for a warmup, Killian’s or Newcastle for the main set. Pizza Hut later for cool down.
I had Tito’s for the first time the other night…awesome. I’m more of a scotch drinker but Tito’s got my attention, definitely worth a try.

I’ve been drunk 3 times in my life - puking drunk once (on Canadian Mist and 7-Up). The puking drunk cured me from getting drunk again. For the longest time, if I even smelled alcohol I wanted to throw up.
If I can only do the same thing with chocolate and ice cream I’ll be able to manage my weight.
In college, we used to mix it with lemonade and limeade (aka a bullfrog) put it in a 5 gallon Gott and take it to football games. The security guard couldn’t even smell it, or didn’t care. Late 70’s - early 80’s era when you could do things like that.
I am one of the 10 percent.
Vodka, two olives, an ice cube, think really hard about some Vermouth.
Enjoy.
