Damaged Braking Surface

The other day I noticed that I have put a couple of small gouges in the braking surface of my front wheel. I must have dropped the wheel on asphalt or something. They are small enough that I did not notice anything while riding.

Can I take some fine-grit sandpaper and just smooth them out or should I let them smooth by themselves over time via the braking action?

BTW - Ksyrium SSC SL rims.

“Can I take some fine-grit sandpaper and just smooth them out”

Yes.

I’ll git-er-dun then.
