Has anyone raced the Lifetime tri in Dallas in October? What were your thoughts of the race?
I did it and it was a great experience. Very well organized Cool to see all the pros racing Very nice award ceremony
.
Overall a fine race. Nice Lake to swim in, slightly rolling bike course - lots of turns though and a pretty good run course up the katy trail (all paved and mostly protected). Chip timing and 4 people starting every 10 seconds spaces out the course pretty well. The biggest issue for some is the point to point race course that causes some logistics issue for some. 2,000+ people taking a 40 minute shuttle bus rides at 5am causes some issues. Also not a good course for spectators. I will do it again as I’m local. All things considered it is worth the money.
We have done it both years. (me ,wife, daughter, son in law) I like the point to point course.Heres my list of pros and cons.
Pros.
1.point to point course
2.Top notch athletes
3.Expo etc.
4.Crowd support
Cons
- Rough, pot holed bike route. Poor Dallas! This was prior recession?
2.I thought I liked the 4 person staggered start until I swam into the back of my umteenth person. I dont know how they could fix that, maybe if they started us
based on our estimated swim time, instead of age group. I am not that great a swimmer BTW (30:00 1500 mtrs) I have never seen so many people treading water.
The end groups of the Olympic run into the first groups of the sprint.
3.Hilton Anatole(Ive stayed there both years-expensive, and they act like they dont know the race is going on, or care)
We will do it again next year, so the pros outweigh the cons.
