I live in Dallas…out of personal preference, I would suggest Richardson Bike Mart (mostly cycling) or Luke’s Locker for Tri gear and Texas Triple Threat for clubs. But there are several good clubs and it mainly comes down to what area of the metroplex you live and train in.
In Orlando you can hit up Orange Cycle - bike bike shop with some cycle stuff, same with Outspoke’n in Lake Mary - Michael and his wife run the place, very nice peoples.
There also is a Fleet Feet in Altamonte Springs right off I-4 and a Trak Shack closer to downtown, but I prefer Fleet Feet.
+1 on RBM. RunOn is also a good place for run gear, although Luke’s Locker is the only local (Dallas) place to get Newtons. all three have knowledgeable staff.
Another Dallasite. RBM is the 900lb gorilla and are good people, but there are some other great shops, including Dallas Bike Mart (great service). Luke’s is my favorite running store, and is a great supporter of local events (in full disclosure including one I am involved in), has great training groups and most importantly is a great store. RunOn is also decent (much smaller).
Teams depend greatly on where you actually live in Dallas(just a few I know of- fit2train, dallas athletes, tri4him). Just a word of caution, many who say they live in Dallas live in various suburbs that can range anywhere from 10-60 miles away.
I love Dallas, it certainly is not the world’s best cycling place but it is decent. Lots of fun local races. Good luck in your deceision. I have family in Orlando, but can’t speak to their tri community, but I am sure it is decent.
