Can anyone give me a good reason on why I should spend $180 for a DA cassette (12-27 based on Dan’s drivetrain article) vs $72 for an Ultegra one? I know that the DA one is lighter and the biggest cogs are titanium, which are titanium to save weight? Other than the weight savings, is there any difference? Will the DA outwear the Ultegra? Hell… I can buy two Ultegra cassette and still have money left over for what it would cost for the one DA cassette. I’m at a loss as to why the DA one is over $100 more.
Nope.
As a bike mechanic told me “buy the Dura Ace cassette…if you’re mad at your money”.
You might consider Ebay. Here is an auction for a 12-27 and I have purchased several items from the seller (Ebay store) and never had a problem: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7170701498&category=42332&rd=1

I’ve heard that the ultegra lasts longer cause it is not Ti. Too bad the Dura-Ace is not Dura-Able…
The difference in durability is negligible. The DA is for weight weenies with heavy wallets. The Ultegra is for everyone else.
