Last week my LBS didnt have koolstops so went with DA pads for my Ultegra bike. Today in the mtns, coming down a long technical decent on my mavic open pros, first the back and then the front brakes suddenly started making this weird wooshing sound. Sounded like I was braking on sandpaper. Black crap and scratches all over the rims machined braking surface. WTF? Are DA pads junk or am I missing something? Advice please.
I’ve gone away from DA brake pads…they suck. I’ve had the same thing happen with mine. Throw them away and get either Kool Stop or Zipp. The DA pads feel hard and brittle and take chunks out of the rims!
