DA 7900 crankset compatible with 7800?

Is DA7900 crankset compatible with 7800 chain, FD, and RD? Shouldn’t matter right?

I know that there is a compatibility chart somewhere on the Shimano website that shows where 7800 and 7900 are compatible and where they are not.

If I remember correctly the crankset. The major difference I think with the 7900 group is the thickness of the chain and the distance between the gears on the cassette. The chain is narrower and so is the distance between gears. So the crankset should work. Might be easier to loose the chain though going from big to lil rings and vica versa. Might have to get the feel for how to shift over without dropping chain.

Thank you all. Looks like i will need at least a new chain and a new BB to make this work.

The 7900 crank should be fine with the 7800 BB- the tech doc posted above shows that to be the case. Not 100% sure in regards to the chain- but I think you would be fine with the 7801 chain and 7900 DA crank.
