Was switching my DA 10 speed cassette and was wondering if you need to have a 10 speed hub as i assume most of my hubs on the wheels i have are 9 speed and when i put the 10 speed on and tighten it down, there is some movement in the casette. pretty sure i’ve got all the spacers unless you’re supposed to put something between the last casette (saw 23/25) and the hub body/spokes. if there’s anything else to be done, i’d appreciate advice. cheers
You do not need a 10 speed hub
.
thanks for the quick response, any idea why it’s “loose” then??? never had a problem with a 9 speed ultegra.
You need the shim!
what’s the “shim” or do you mean, you want the “shimmy” ie. play in the casette?
The shim that comes with the 10 speed cassette and which it says, in the instructions, to use if you are on a 9-speed freehub. It goes on first, then the cassette, then the 10-speed lockring. It is a ring, about 2mm in thickness.
thanks for the info, i’ll check to see if i’ve got it somewhere, cheers

thin, silver colored, goes on before the cassette
