Cytomax or Accelerade?

Looking for some feedback on nuturition on the bike…I’ve heard lots of good stuff about both Cytomax and Accelerade. Anyone have any opinion? Flavors?

I don’t think there’s a lot of reason to have protein in your hydration drink, so I’ve always thought Accelerade was overkill. I use Cytomax and like the lemon-lime flavor. I have no idea if its poly-lactate does anything but it’s got carbs and tastes good.

Protein for recovery, however, is a good idea… whether it’s Endurox, milk, or whatever.

Easy. Train with whatever is going to be served at your “A” race(s) unless you plan to carry your own drink for the whole race. This year I’m training with Cytomax even though I don’t really like the flavor of the stuff because that’s what J&A Productions is using in all their races.

Good point. I always think from the short-course perspective… I can carry all my beverage with me on the bike, plus a little water during the rn if needed.

Cytomax. I do Gatorade when I’ve got to grab-and-go (7-Eleven stop). But, I’ve been a Cytomax drinker from way back. Citrus flavor for me.

I tried Accelerade and was like drinking expired food – and bad food at that. I just do not want protein powder mixed up in my drink.

Cytomax is the way to… Apple Berry is the bomb… I have also had good luck with the Cytomax Preformance product, you take this product before you do your long workouts.

apple berr***! Damn you’ve got to come out here to Hawaii and unload our store of all our apple berry that just sits and sits forever. But seriously, for shorter stuff cyto works great and tastes great. I prefer the orange, tropical, citrus, and that new strawberry flavor is pretty good too. I usually use Hammer Nutrition Perpetuem though. A little bit of protein but goes down easy and has a pleasant taste unlike endurox products, yelch.

Anyone tried the e-gel? It supposedly is a replacement for the carbs and electrolytes, so you just squirt and drink H2O.

I agree about the APPLE BERRY Cytomax. Yecch!!! A couple of the others are OK, but, hell, I like accellerade, so what does that tell you.

By the way Pedialyte* (cherry or apple) is made for oral hydration. It gets in in a hurry. It just doesn’t have that much total carb, so it’s not going to be great for the long workouts/races.

Cytomax? Yeech! I hate the taste of nutrasweet…Cytomax tastes sweet like diet soda tastes sweet. I can’t stand it.

Accelerade on the other hand is nothing but yummy yummy goodness. Lemon-lime is my favorite - makes me thirsty just thinking about it.

I love lemon lime accelerade. When i started using it, i noticed a great advance in endurance and lowered heart rate for the same performance. But… I also noticed that it gave me horrible diarrhea. I tried for at least a month to get used to it. I was running 4 days a week on the treadmill, and everyday after about 40 minutes i would sprint to the bathroom. Eventually, I grew to love the taste, but never got my stomach used to it, thus ive stopped using it. Now i just use water and gatorade, theyre both easy on the stomach. Though, i might try cytomax if i can stand it.
