Cyclist's revenge!

I was out for a ride today and 2 youngish jerks came dangerously close to me in their car with one of them hanging partway out of the window and screaming the standard profanity at me. The thing that makes today different from most is that when I swerved the car that driving behind them followed and watched as they sped off and took down the plate number that I couldn’t get. They phoned it in to the police and a few minutes ago I got a call from my brother who is a local police officer and he asked if it was me that almost got run off the road. The cop doing the investigation is a buddy of ours that we run with and he’ll be paying the boys a visit tonight to discuss their driving habits. This is a rare treat that doesn’t happen too often when dealing with dickhead motorists.

Hey Allan, glad you got off OK. It seems that you have had a few of these types of incidents lately.

Anyway, ride safely, and be ready for Epicman 2006. Can you make it if we do it on a Friday ?

Hey Dev

Fridays won’t work for me unless I’m sick … maybe I feel a cough coming on in June

I wish I could get in on your Powerman idea but I’ll be pacing my brother through the Prince Edward County marathon on October 2nd so I’ve got 2 weeks to do marthon training with a 1 week sharpening/taper period before I attempt to run a somewhat speedy marathon.

Allan,

That is excellent news. I hope they throw the book at these losers.

BTW, I’ve noticed more of this sort of thing this year in “our area” than in the last five years combined. Has this been your observation this year?

"I’ll be pacing my brother through the Prince Edward County marathon on October 2nd "

So might be I. But I’ll be on my bike as a volunteer. Was going to run the 1/2 marathon but just haven’t been doing enough running this year. Will do it for sure next year.

My wife might do the 1/2 but she hasn’t decided yet.

I notice that it always seems to happen near Stirling for me. I don’t think that they’ll have the book thrown at them since I wouldn’t be able to positively identify any of the occupants of the car. I just hope that my cop friend scares the crap out of them and that they’ll think twice before acting like jerks next time.

Are you racing tomorrow at the Harbour Club?

"Are you racing tomorrow at the Harbour Club? "

No. My limp-wrist-whiney-ass excuse is that I still have an injury from Ottawa, but my wife will be doing the 10 K.

I was going to volunteer but our local community college asked me on Thursday if I’d like to teach a part time continuing ed course starting on Monday since the instructor backed out at the last moment. So I’ve got to spend all day Sunday preparing. We’ll do a 50 kms bike ride in the afternoon, but that’ll be it.

Suppose you’re doing the 1/2?

I’m not racing tomorrow. My wife is out of town so I’ll be up at 6 for a couple of hours running then shuttling children around. I’m hoping to swing by to watch part of it. My brother is running it so I’ll cheer him on.

"My wife is out of town so I’ll be up at 6 "

If my wife was out of town I’d be going to bed at about 6.

Just kidding. I know your kids are young. My kids are 16/21 but not from “the wife” that you know. My second time around.

This isn’t revenge…you should thank your lucky stars you’re still allive. That’s your treat for today.

It’s another reason for cyclists’ to write their sit-on-their-ass congress-people to do something about this indecent act of violence against innocent people - which to me, is similar to shooting someone in the back - cowardly.
